About Me

I can’t say for sure where my love of a good wedding comes from but it could have something to do with my favourite photo at my parents’ place. It’s them, in their early 20s in 1980, getting married with great hair and huge smiles. Their endless romance has always inspired me way more than celebrity weddings because it’s given me a front row seat to what it takes to have a good marriage—respect, having each other’s back, consistency and yes, the intangibles of love and connection.

When I meet a couple before their wedding, I’m always thrilled to get the same feeling from them. To see what their future will look like and the glue that will hold them together. It’s a huge thing, getting to play a role in what is often the happiest, most memorable day of someone’s life. To honour love, kindness and trust. I laugh when I hear marriage called traditional and safe. Is there anything more joyously risky than deciding you can spend your whole life with one other person? Such a glorious leap of faith. Seeing that all the time is why I became a celebrant.

Other things I love: Herb my dog, keeping fit with triathlons (I’m a participant rather than a competitor!), my family, the West Coast Eagles and travelling. I lived in four cities in Australia and overseas by the time I was eight and Italy is my perennial passion. It has everything—coffee, wine, food, beaches, art, insanely well-dressed people. I have a bachelor of business degree, worked in London and Melbourne for a major media company, play the saxophone, love Queen music, and am a massive TV crime drama buff.
